摘要：A method of simulating a flexible object such as a catheter includes modelingthe flexible object as a plurality of segments in which each segment has a plurality ofnodes connected by one or more edges. The method further includes modeling each

segment as a plurality of tetrahedral elements formed by the nodes and the edges togenerate a tetrahedral finite element model. The method further includes indexing eachnode so that a maximum difference between a first index of a first node and a secondindex of a second node is bounded and is approximately equal to s*k, where s is themaximum number of segments connected at one node and k is a maximum number ofnodes that belong to one segment.
