Do What You Want

What do you think if some people ask you: “What do you do?” Would you think of your dream in childhood? If you become the people you want to be at 16? If you not, what is the reason of it and how did you come to do what you do? The author of this passage tells us a story about that.

In Toronto, when strangers meet, they do not say “How do you do?” They say “What do you do?” This question always drives many people crazy because they do not wish to be defined by or awarded status or demerit points on the basis of their work. In fact, we do not all become what we think we want to be at 16.

People always say the reason of changing job is the characteristics of the work and the arrangement of destiny. For some people, the success is unbelievable, for other, a life of desperately unsatisfying activity, and for most everyone else, something in between—good years and bad, fulfillment and drudgery. If you ask people about their professional regrets, they usually involve something they did not do.

Sometimes I think people invest their careers with the same mythology they do their love lives—the great passion, the career that got

away, now loom larger than life, which is why, in their fifties, many people go looking for that career spark they left behind. We understand, because of our own convoluted life circumstances. But we do not demystify the process enough for students.

In this way, the most important thing for a student in university is having a simple realize to all kinds of jobs, and have a good state of mind when you begin to find job. In my view, you can do want you want to be in this world.
